Abstract
Implications of nitric oxide (NO) in schizophrenia have been well explored in both animal models and the patient population. Histochemical, genetic, biochemical and pre-clinical pharmacological findings seem to support a relationship between underproduction of NO and schizophrenia. However, the current understanding of the true scope and mechanism of NO's effect in schizophrenia is incomplete to date.
